Visitor advice and operational queries answered by locals.
Entry to the waterfall park is entirely free. There are no ticket counters or admission fees, and the park remains open 24 hours a day, though visiting during daylight hours is highly recommended due to the lack of trail lighting.
While the pools at the base of the waterfall look inviting, swimming is not recommended. The granite rocks are extremely slippery, and water levels can change rapidly after heavy rains. The water temperature is also quite chilly even in peak summer.
Tap water in Villacidro is clean and chlorinated, making it safe for drinking. However, it can have a mild mineral taste. Visitors usually purchase bottled mineral water from local grocery stores.
A basic visit to the lower viewing deck takes about 30 minutes. If you plan to hike the scenic route up to the top gorge and the Rio Coxinas source, you should dedicate at least 2 to 3 hours for the round trip.
There is a small picnic area with benches near the entrance, but no commercial shops, cafes, or public restrooms directly at the waterfall. You will find excellent trattorias and bakeries in the village of Villacidro, just 1.5 km (~0.9 miles) away.
The path to the first main waterfall view is paved and relatively flat, which is great for children. However, the upper hiking trails are steep, narrow, and require careful scrambling over granite blocks.
